How to do a Hardware-Reset?

There are different ways of doing a Hardware-Reset depending on the device series. Select the correct device from the list below and follow the applicable instructions:

Important If you proceed with doing a Hardware-Reset, then all personal settings will be deleted. We recommend doing a backup of the software beforehand. Instructions on how to do a backup can be found  here.    

► For the NAVIGON 20s, NAVIGON 40/42s, NAVIGON 70/72s and NAVIGON 92s series:

  1. Press the On/Off button and the reset button (i.e. with pin) the bottom of the frame simultaneously until the device switches itself off.
  2. Wait 3 seconds and switch your device on as usual.
  3. When prompted, reset the device to factory settings.

► For the NAVIGON 12xx, 13xx, 14xx, 21xx, 22xx,23xx, 24xx series:

  1. Press the On/Off button for at least 10 seconds to switch the device off.
  2. Then press the On/Off button for about 10 seconds again.
  3. The device will switch on again.

► For the 33xx, 43xx, 51xx/71xx, 63xx, 72xx/73xx series:

  1. Press the On/Off button for about 4-6 seconds to switch the device off.
  2. Then press the On/Off button for about 2-10 seconds again until the device switches itself on again.


► For the 81xx/83xx series:

  1. Press the On/Off button and the reset button (i.e. with pin) the bottom of the frame simultaneously until the device switches itself off.
  2. Wait 3 seconds and switch your device on as usual.

► For the 84xx series:

  1. Switch the device off.
  2. Press the On/Off button for at least 10 seconds until the message  Reset to factory settings appears.
  3. Press the On/Off button again until the device switches itself on again.
